REDDIE featured in The Flemish Journal of Diabetology
REDDIE partner Hilda Ahnstedt from Breakthrough T1D, together with Carmen Hurtado Del Pozo (Breakthrough T1D) and Julia Mader (Medical University of Graz), has contributed an article to the Diabetes Liga journal, The Flemish Journal of Diabetology, highlighting how real-world evidence can help bridge the gap between clinical trials and everyday diabetes care.
The article, “Bridging Trials and Practice: Real-World Evidence in Diabetes from the REDDIE Project,” explains how real-world data from sources such as health registries and digital technologies can complement evidence from randomised controlled trials and provide insights into how treatments perform across broader patient populations.
It also presents some of REDDIE’s key areas of work, including methods for assessing whether real-world datasets are fit for purpose, the use of synthetic data and simulated trials, and target trial emulation. Importantly, the article highlights REDDIE’s commitment to involving people living with diabetes through its Patient Advisory Committee. By bringing together large-scale registry data, advanced analytical methods and meaningful patient involvement, REDDIE aims to strengthen the generation and use of real-world evidence and ultimately support better-informed decisions in diabetes care.
