Real-World Evidence for Decisions in Diabetes

REDDIE in a new publication on Bridging the worlds of research and policy-making

REDDIE was mentioned as a good example in a new publication from our project partner, Jonathan Valabhji (Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine in London), published in the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal.

The publication titled: "Bridging the worlds of research and policy making" mentions the EU-funded Real-World Evidence for Decisions in Diabetes (REDDIE) project as an example where data from four large national registries will be used to derive trial emulation cohorts in whom the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in the real world can be compared with the efficacy demonstrated when the same therapeutic interventions were tested in RCT settings.

The first Editorial of 2024 of the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal was titled: “From research to policy: still a long way to go”. The editorial explored potential reasons why much research in the field, despite its transformative potential for impact, is not taken up and implemented into health policy.
