University of Gothenburg will participate in the Reddie project and perform evaluations of glucose-lowering treatments in clinical practice based on Swedish Registry data. Patients receiving treatments in clinical practice may differ from those being treated in randomized clinical trials. In Sweden extensive registry data exist having the possibility to characterize risk profiles, biomarkers and diabetes complications. It is therefore also possible to evaluate how treatment effects may differ for patient groups similar to those in clinical trials compaired to patients in clinical practice. But also if patient groups similar to those included in clinical trials obtain corresponding effects in clinical practice. Compliance and possibleside effects of treatments can also be evaluated.
