Real-World Evidence for Decisions in Diabetes

Introducing the REDDIE Patient Advisory Committee: Championing Real-World Diabetes Insights

As part of World Diabetes Day 2024, REDDIE is proud to announce the members of its Patient Advisory Committee (PAC), who bring vital perspectives that shape the project’s research. The PAC—comprised of Bram Bekaert, Goretti Mallorqui, Kenneth Tait, Koen Marien, Mariana Manita, and Peter Shorrick—partners with REDDIE researchers to ensure the project remains rooted in the needs of people with diabetes. Led by BreakthroughT1D, the PAC provides essential insights on research priorities, public outreach, and patient engagement.

The committee recently held its first meeting with REDDIE’s work package (WP) leaders, where each leader presented an overview of their research focus and objectives. The PAC members showed strong engagement, asked insightful questions, and provided feedback on areas where patient perspectives can make a meaningful impact.

Working across all areas of REDDIE, PAC members highlight the realities of living with diabetes, helping make REDDIE’s findings relevant and accessible. They also play a key role in connecting research with the public by sharing updates through community networks. This collaboration supports REDDIE’s mission to advance patient-centred diabetes care in real-world settings.
