Patients at the Centre: REDDIE Meets PAC for Final Project Phase
REDDIE partners met with members of the REDDIE Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) to review project progress and strengthen collaboration for the final year of activities. The meeting brought together work package leaders and patient representatives to exchange insights, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for meaningful patient involvement.
Updates were presented across several work packages, covering topics such as global diabetes databases, the use of real-world data to emulate clinical trials, and the development of AI-driven methods and synthetic datasets. Discussions highlighted both the scientific progress achieved and the importance of ensuring transparency, usability, and relevance for patients.
PAC members provided valuable perspectives on communication, dissemination, and the acceptability of real-world evidence in healthcare decision-making. They also suggested expanding outreach through additional social media platforms and patient networks, as well as creating more accessible, patient-friendly summaries of scientific results.
Looking ahead, PAC members will play an active role in the project’s final phase. Their contributions will include providing feedback on tools and outputs, supporting communication activities, and contributing to discussions on the ethical and practical implications of using real-world and synthetic data in diabetes care.
This continued collaboration reinforces REDDIE’s commitment to patient-centred research and ensures that patient voices remain integral to shaping impactful outcomes.
